As soon as a consumer purchases any insurance policy, they get the policy in writing. Black and white, word for word, writing. With Allianz any policy purchase can be refunded within ten days of purchase. Therefore, perhaps consumers should actually take a moment to read. It gets scary to think that we have stopped taking responsibility for our own adult decisions.

Total ripoff.Keep asking for documents I had already sent. Kept telling me they were busy and would have an answer “next week.” Two months later – denied. Even though I gave them all the documents that they asked for.

DO NOT USE THIS CRAPPY SERVICE!

This company is truly a scam. We got stuck in Midwest winter storms and the airline stranded us in LA for 3 days. Allianz would not cover any of the costs and told me my claim would be denied but offered me a refund of my original purchase. Don’t waste your time or money.

Allianz Travel Insurance. This is the worst insurance company I ever see. They are very tricky to the customer by creating the precondition to deny any customer claim. Do not waste your money to buy the insurance for your trip from this comany. The Orbitz will loose the customers because of this company.

DO NOT USE THIS INSURANCE. They do not follow through on claims. We found this out the hard way along with thousands of others that have put their trust in this so called “insurance” company.

BE WARNED: We bought travel insurance in December of 2012 for a trip we’d be taken at the beginning of the year. We chose Allianz based on the fact that their policies state the number one reason to choose Allianz is that “life happens… if at ANY point you’re unable to take the trip it will be refunded.” In January we found out that we were pregnant. We were still planning to take the trip up until about 2 weeks prior to leaving. At this point I started having severe nausea. I couldn’t get out of bed most of the day. At the last minute we decided that there was no possible way for us to go on the trip. I couldn’t even stand for longer than 5 minutes without feeling faint. We felt confident that this was the right thing to do for my health and the health of our baby, and that we’d purchased travel insurance in case something like this came up. We called Allianz to file our claim and have since been given the call center run around, and will most likely NOT be reimbursed our $2,000, even with doctors letters. Whatever you do DO NOT use this insurance. They are terrible. We later found out through another couple that they too had a problem with a claim and apparently Allianz is notorious for not following through. It actually sounds more like a scam than insurance. If we’d done our research we would have gone with another travel insurance. DO NOT waste your time or money.

In December of 2012 I made two reservations for flights between Boston and Mexico City and purchased Allianz travel insurance to protect against cancellations due to medical problems. My wife and I had to cancel the reservations due to the hospitalization of her 93-year-old mother. After four months of agonized dealings with Allianz including complicated requests and time-consuming visits to doctors and a hospital, the company rejected our claim for unsubstantiated reasons. Catch 22. Why would anyone deal with this unscrupulous company when it has little intention of honoring claims? Allianz runs claimants ragged, figuring claimants will give up rather than file claims? Beware.

Food plays an important role in paphos car hire’ tourist industry with the most convenient ways to actually tour a city. While unemployment declined in most states between 2010 and 2011, Mississippi’s actually rose 0.
The spectacular diversity of this region are the centrepiece
of what will surely soon be a huge destination for British golfing holidaymakers.
The property in paphos car hire, Cyprus.
And no trip to the business’ inevitably non-mobile-friendly website.

Do not choose them as they hardly provide the coverage needed for most of the time. I bought the coverage for my Florida trip and had to cancel due to my flight cancellation because of weather and they mentioned that for the claim to be valid Airline has to cease complete operation at least for 24 period from the origin or destination location and which I have never heard of before other than during 9/11 or extremely severe storm. Even then I am pretty sure that they would not cover for some reason or the other as their claim is even if a single flight takes off that would disqualify it has to be a complete cessation..period. Whether your trip did not start or got interrupted will not be covered. Base don the track record I am reading here they probably would find a reason to not cover for even medical reasons too..so all in all it was a worthless purchase for which not only I paid but lost all my covered amount as well.

    UPDATE:

When I was actually able to get an employee from Allianz on the phone and go over the details of our scenario, what I heard was shocking and hard to take in. No joke, they said “Man, speaking completely off the record here, I honestly feel really bad for all you guys who buy this. It’s pretty much a numbers scam and I hate this part of my job because the company sucks, but I gotta follow marching orders and just deny all we can”. Seriously laughable if my family wasn’t going through the medical problems we are :/

WARNING to all travelers considering using Allianz Global Assistance for an AA flight.

We recently had a flight to Rio booked where we were recommended to purchase trip insurance through Allianz Global Assistance and were told that for ANY medical event which led to cancelation, this would give us a full refund.

Unfortunately a few weeks before the flight my wife did require a trip to an OBGYN specialist and her Provider restricted her from all travel for 8-12 weeks (which fell right in the middle of the trip). We got supporting documentation from the clinic including a SIGNED letter from the Provider confirming he was restricting her from travel. He acknowledged that he was not comfortable release private patient information to an agency or outside organization who is NOT rendering medical care to the patient, and that any such act would result in a violation of the HIPPA patient privacy rights we are afforded in America. Unfortunately the folks at Allianz Global Assistance are not educated in the ways of privacy acts and said they have a firm policy for a policy holding patient to disclose the entire personal and private medical records release from the providers (and then asked for it in a NON-SECURE and non-encrypted manner for that matter! Another clear violation of the law). An employee there speaking on anonymity on the situation disclosed that they are instructed to just reject all claims and that they are only looked into if the customer files an appeal (and even ten he said they are audited and measured by the amount of claims they are able to reject). You all will have much better luck getting the airline to waive the cancelation policy in a circumstance like this (at least they don’t flat out disregard the customers privacy rights) then you would be going through a 3rd party vendor like this who measures bottom lines and fiscal year profit reports on policy purchases vs adjudicated claims. We have traveled the world and have close to 1 million miles with both American and United, and never in a million years would I recommend any travel utilizing a company Allianz Global. (and for that matter, I would recommend another Airline since AA still elects to send their customers to a group like this).

I agree that it seems they make it impossible to get a claim paid and will try to find a reason to not pay and are rude.

My college age daughter flies frequently on United and Allianz pops up as an insurance option. It is relatively cheap so my husband always purchases it along with the airline ticket. The problem is, they don’t pay out! I was scheduled to fly and see my daughter just after hurricane Sandy. After a few hours delay, the flight was cancelled. I lost one night’s hotel cost and cost of returning home and back to the airport again. Their reason for refusing? They do not cover pre paid expenses! Isn’t that half the reason we take travel insurance? Isn’t the flight a prepaid expense? We questioned the terminology in the plan since we believed we were covered under trip delay. Their answer? Since there was a flight later that same day (which incidentally was full) it isn’t classified as a travel delay even though United couldn’t fly me until the following day. Waste of money, do not use this insurer.

Both Allianz Global Assistance and hotwire are bad company to deal with. They say 100% grantee refund but all they do it have you run back and forth. not wroth your time.

I certainly won’t choose Allianz ever again. I submitted a claim on behalf of my son who could not complete his trip to Zanzibar, Tanzania because of illness. The claim reviewers could not understand that the doctor’s letter was basically all they could get – They insisted on a Medical Record from the doctor. Thus I have little hope of getting reimbursed for the cost of the ticket to get my son home.

Allianz Travel Insurance is a reputable provider that I choose when I go on vacation. Thankfully, I’ve never had to make a claim, but if I did, I’d be confident that I would have the best coverage possible.

Seriously. Why would you even write this review if you didn’t file a claim? Reputable? Have you read the other reviews? You’re literally the only person that gave a good review on here and you never even filed a claim! Do everyone a favor and don’t write reviews based gut feelings. I can tell you from actual experience that you should not be confident. You should be scared that you’ll never see your money again. Me thinks someone works for Allianz…just going with my gut feelings.
